| Walking in Rome, you see the layers of history. You feel it beneath your feet, you can see it in the eyes of the Romans. In the midst of every day life, there are resonances of times past, archetypes, images, songs, light, water. Today you may see the remains of a poster that has been torn down. It reveals another torn poster beneath. Beneath, a wall, with traces of paint, maybe graffitti. You may want to scratch the surface to dig into its history. You want to see what the wall has seen. You are already there. Why can't you see? What do you see? JODY JOSEPH has been walking the streets of Rome and capturing that sense of deep history in these photographs. |
