NOREEN NAUGHTON was born in Schenectady, New York in 1945. She studied at the University of Hawaii where she graduated in 1967 with a B.A. in studio art painting, and in 1974 with a M.Ed. in art education. She has done graduate work in drawing, painting and sculpture at Cranbrook Academy of Art, and the New York Studio School of Drawing, Painting and Sculpture. She completed her M.F.A. studies in painting at the University of Hawaii in 1979. Ms. Naughton has also been a professional cellist with the Honolulu Symphony Orchestra. For the summers of 1989, 1990, 1992, 1994 and 1996 Noreen Naughton has taught "Drawing in Italy", a study abroad course sponsored by Kapiolani Community College. ring the summer of 1991 and 1994, she attended the International School of Art in Umbria, Italy. Her paintings are in collections nationally, internationally and locally, including the State Foundation of the Arts. Ms. Naughton has had numerous one-person exhibitions in Hawaii and is the leader of the Ho'maluhia Artist Group. Noreen Naughton was awarded the University of Hawaii Board of Regents' Excellence in Teaching Award in 1994.
