Drawings by Sarah Figlio

SARAH FIGLIO, International School of Art, 1997, received her BA at the University of Pennsylvania, and her BFA at the School at the Art Institute of Chicago, where she is now doing post-graduate study. She works as a free-lance book designer.

Sarah Figlio says about her work:

I paint images of brooding nature, of unreassuring places and climactic events, which I use as a means to suggest the tension between violence and survival. I want my paintings to relate to the experience of life; to its fleeting beauty, its very sadness, to the struggles of this particular time. Ultimately, I hope that my paintings will be compelling in their evocation of the space between drama and reality or artifice and truth, and their acknowledgment of the paradox that these exist simultaneously.
